TREGONWELL HOUSE,
B&B IN EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK
Tregonwell House is a spacious Victorian guesthouse offering clean
and comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation with its own car
park, in Somerset’s
premier seaside resort, Minehead. Owners, Linda
and Malcolm, assure you of a warm welcome and will do their best
to make your stay a pleasant one. If you are looking for b&b with
off street parking, for a short stay, or longer in a bed and breakfast
accommodation using Minehead as a base to discover Exmoor, you
will find Tregonwell House an ideal place to stay. |
The town of Minehead is often referred
to as the ‘Gateway to Exmoor’, and makes a good
base from which to explore this beautiful National Park.
Exmoor is renowned for its stunning scenery, from wide open
heather clad moorland to wooded valleys and picturesque villages.
The coastline from Minehead to the North Devon resorts of
Lynton and Lynmouth is spectacular. The South West Coast
Path starts in Minehead and runs all around the coast to
Dorset. |

Minehead is very much a traditional seaside
resort, providing fun for all the family. The wide sandy beach
is easily accessible from the newly enhanced promenade, which
runs along the whole sweep of the bay, from the golf course
to the pretty harbour. The promenade is lit up at night with
a ‘string of pearls’ effect, and forms part of the new sea defences
which are a major improvement to Minehead seafront. There are
plenty of things to do in the town, regardless of the weather,
although Minehead has a very mild, sunny climate.
| We offer a variety
of breakfasts, including our FULL English breakfasts
and a vegetarian option which are served in our light,
spacious dining room. We can cater for special diets
with prior notice. We do not provide an evening meal,
but guests are welcome to use the dining room for takeaway
meals if they wish. Minehead does have a huge choice
of restaurants, pubs and cafes to suit all tastes and
budgets, all within a short walk from Tregonwell House. |
|
You can get day tickets to the Butlins Holiday Camp, take a trip on the West Somerset Steam Railway, see a show at the Regal Theatre, or have a go at putting on the green in Blenheim Gardens, which are famous for their floral displays. There are trips around the bay from the picturesque harbour, or you can book a day’s sea fishing. You can also fish from the promenade when the tide is in.
There are many attractions just a short drive away from Minehead,
including the medieval village of Dunster with
its castle and ancient Yarn Market. Children will love to see
the animals at the Tropiquaria at Washford, which also has an
adventure playground. The pretty villages of Selworthy and Bossington,
which are owned by the National Trust, are well worth a visit,
as is Horner, where you can enjoy a cream tea by the river. |

Tregonwell House is ideally situated in a pleasant,
tree lined avenue, just off the centre of Minehead, but with own
private car park.
It is just a 5 minute, level walk from the beach, the West Somerset Steam Railway station, and the many shops and restaurants in the town, but in a quiet location.
We provide clean, comfortable good value bed and breakfast, along with good old-fashioned hospitality. Our bedrooms are large and very comfortable.
All bedrooms have a TV, clock radio, a hairdryer
and beverage tray, and seating. All rooms are en suite, or
have private bathroom.
We have 8 bedrooms: 1 single room; 3
double; 3 twin; and 1 family room with a double and a
single bed.

All
rooms are tastefully decorated with a pleasant outlook over
the town to the surrounding hills. There are ironing facilities
for guests’ use.
There is a private car park at the rear of the house,
offering off road secure parking for guests, and also a garage
if guests wish to store cycles or other equipment safely.
There is an abundance of wildlife on Exmoor, in particular the
wild red deer, Exmoor ponies, and also a wide variety of birds.
The town is sheltered by North Hill, and the drive up through
the old part of Minehead along the hill to the viewpoint at
Selworthy Beacon is very rewarding, especially to see the spectacular
sunsets over Porlock Bay. |
